Honda launches Jazz in India

This was an awesome press conference. Seldom have I seen the entire hall of some 300 odd journalists and camera crew laughing mad. Vir Das was the chap who took the platform as presenter and boy-o-boy he was quite a firecracker with his wild statements. The entire act was nothing short of laugh-inducing and the way he put things and situations in words was simply sensational. This was followed up with a highlight-performance by Raghav Sachar (one of the Walls ice cream commercial fame). Damn, this guy not only sings well but plays so many instruments that it seemed like a complete orchestra. The entire experience was hugely enjoyable. And this splendid act paved way for statements that seemed to put a very casual, fun element to the press conference.

Honda Jazz launched in India – Press Release

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, today launched its latest global car – the Honda Jazz. Boasting an optimum balance between a futuristic aerodynamic exterior and spacious interiors, the Jazz is a segment-defining car that has won accolades and adoration all over the world. Widely acclaimed for its dynamic styling, spacious interiors, versatile utility and remarkable performance, the Honda Jazz brings added fun and excitement to the driving experience.

The Jazz’s dynamic performance is achieved by a newly developed four-cylinder 1.2-liter i-VTEC engine, featuring Programmed Fuel Injection that delivers maximum output of  90 PS (66 kW) @ 6,200 rpm and Torque of 110 Nm (11.2 kg-m) @ 4800 rpm while giving impressive fuel economy of 16.1 km/l, as per ARAI test data. Jazz is available in 5-speed manual transmission with gear ratios optimized for a sporty driving experience, while ensuring good fuel economy. The Drive by Wire throttle control system enables precise control of the vehicle while driving.

Toyota Land Cruiser launched in India

In the current crop of SUVs, there’s only a handful that stand tall as genuine off-roaders. Toyota Land Cruiser is one. It is the era when manufacturers are increasingly moving towards monocoque construction for their SUVs but Toyota stays true to ladder-frame chassis. It is known as the DNA of all devoted off-roading machines. Today, Toyota has launched its full-blown V8 diesel powered Land Cruiser. That’s good news because till now the Land Cruiser was only available with a massively powerful and equally heavy-drinking 4.4 litre petrol engine. The 4.5-litre V8 diesel engine features a common rail fuel injection system mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Max power output is rated at 281bhp while max torque stands at 650Nm being delivered between 1600 to 2800rpm.

Mthrills – the journey has begun!

And we are rolling. Well, since the idea of launching Mthrills cropped up in our heads, we thought of going out and test driving a few cars so that we have something to show you folks! As a result we ended up getting passionate with SUVs like Mitsubishi Pajero and Mercedes ML320 while premium sedans like the Volvo S80 V8 and Volkswagen Jetta kept things balanced so that we don’t run into the zone of madness. There are a lot more cars that we need to test so that you are kept informed, and entertained. Coming up is a slew of cars like Fiat 500 and Grande Punto. Honda Jazz, too, is one machine that would surely keep the temperature gauges busy.  There are phone calls waiting to be made so that few things can be laid on concrete as far as getting these drives done is concerned. Rest assured, we already are, and are always going to work to our best of abilities to produce even-handed, unbiased (almost every time ) reports for you. Honda Jazz – India launch on 10th June

Come June 10th and a desperate wait will be over. The Honda Jazz has long been coming but we can finally sigh with relief. The Jazz is has been globally celebrated since it was first launched in 2001 and history speaks about its accomplishments. The Jazz has also been proudly wearing a number of Car of the Year crowns. How will it do in India is something that coming few months will answer. The Honda Jazz will slug it out in the premium end of the small car/hatchback segment. The other car to fall in that category that will squarely fight with the Jazz is Skoda Fabia. But then again, no one can take the current king of the crop – Maruti Suzuki Swift – and Hyundai i20 for granted. What will work for Jazz is its badge. Being a Honda is always regarded as a thing of prestige by Indian consumers, also, Honda is ‘expected’ to be reliable and easy on pocket, so that is one area where the latest from Honda will have an upper hand over at least its immediate rival, Skoda Fabia.
